The UAE searches in two languages, and most brands only show up in one. That is an enormous, quiet arbitrage: Arabic keywords in many verticals have a fraction of the competition and 20โ40% lower ad costs than their English equivalents.
Translate intent, not words
Direct translation of your English pages is the most common mistake. Arabic search behaviour differs - query phrasing, formality and even the devices used. Build your Arabic keyword research natively, then write for those queries instead of translating your English copy.
Get hreflang right or pay for it twice
Bilingual sites live or die on technical setup. Correct hreflang annotations tell Google which language version to serve to which searcher. Get it wrong and your pages compete against each other, splitting authority and confusing rankings in both languages.
Cultural nuance is conversion rate
Imagery, colour, family references, financing language and seasonal moments like Ramadan and National Day all shift conversion rates. An Arabic landing page that reads as culturally native will outperform a translated one by a wide margin - we see it in split tests constantly.
You do not need to double your content budget. Start with your five highest-revenue pages, build them properly in Arabic, and measure. The bilingual gap in the UAE market will not stay this open forever.
